Two men, aged 43 and 53, were arrested by the Police when, in their attempt to escape, they fell into a 4-meter-deep cliff in the Kalo Chorio - Aradippou area of the Larnaca district.
According to an officer of the Police Communications Branch, members of the Force in Nicosia received information regarding the presence of a 43-year-old man, who was wanted for failing to appear before a court in Nicosia for a hearing on a theft case,
An arrest warrant had been issued against the 43-year-old and police information indicated that he had been seen in the Kalo Chorio area of the Larnaca district.
Members of the Force went to the area around 3.30 pm on Thursday, February 20, and after locating the suspect, he attempted to escape in his car, driving via a secondary road network.
Police members followed the 43-year-old's vehicle, when at some point on the road he appeared to have lost control and fell into a cliff approximately 4 meters deep, in an area between Kalo Chorio and Aradippou.
During the Police investigation, a 53-year-old man was found riding in the 43-year-old's vehicle, while there were no injuries from the vehicle falling off the cliff.
In the 43-year-old's vehicle, the Police found a number of vehicle batteries and credit cards belonging to other individuals and are investigating whether this is stolen property for which the two men did not provide sufficient explanations as to the legality of their possession.
The two men were arrested for the flagrant offense of illegal possession of property.
The two arrested are expected to be brought before the Larnaca District Court later today for the issuance of detention orders.
