A 38-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon and taken into custody to facilitate interrogations regarding an ongoing case of traffic violations and a collision with two patrol vehicles.

Specifically, at around 6.40 yesterday afternoon, while members of the Traffic Police Headquarters and the OPOD were conducting traffic checks near the Kalo Chorio roundabout in Larnaca, they signaled a car to stop for a check.

The driver of the vehicle failed to do so and continued on his way, violating a traffic light. The two police patrol cars followed the driver who entered a dead end in an area of Aradippou. In his attempt to escape, he crashed twice into the two patrol cars, causing material damage.

The driver continued on his way, followed by the two above patrol cars, where he was finally stopped.

During the subsequent check, it was determined that the driver was a 38-year-old man who was driving the vehicle without a driver's license, without a safety certificate, without a certificate of suitability and with a suspended registration license.

The 38-year-old was also given a breathalyzer test with a final reading of 39μg instead of 22 μg, which is the maximum limit by law.

Aradipou Police Station continues the examinations.
