More than 2.000 members of the Police will work for the smooth conduct of the parliamentary elections, the Communications Officer of the Police Headquarters, Marina Christodoulidou, told CNA on Wednesday.
According to Ms. Christodoulidou, action plans have been drawn up for monitoring the voting process, as well as for policing various points.
He added that from Sunday morning, the Crisis Management Center will operate in Nicosia for the general coordination of operations on a pan-Cypriot basis, while at the same time, provincial operations centers will operate in other cities.
He added that members of the Police will staff the polling centers that will operate, while there will also be motorized patrols, so that the process can be carried out smoothly, with order and security.
Asked whether there will be specific traffic regulations to facilitate voters, Ms. Christodoulidou said that traffic regulations will be implemented where and when needed.
When asked if there are any recommendations for the public, he said that the Police are calling on voters to follow the instructions that will be given at polling stations.
"Our goal is for the process to proceed smoothly within the framework of our own responsibilities, in matters of order and security," he concluded.
