Seven minors were arrested today to facilitate Police examinations regarding an ongoing fight that resulted in the injury of five people, two of whom seriously, in Larnaca.
As Christodoulos Konsolos, press spokesman for the Larnaca Police Department, told CNA, "regarding the case of a fight that occurred last night in the city, seven minor foreign persons from Syria were arrested this morning."
"Tomorrow the seven people will be brought before the Larnaca District Court for the issuance of detention orders," he said.
He added that "at the scene where the fight took place, namely in a parking lot near the structure where the minors reside, examinations were conducted last night and this morning by the investigators of the case to collect evidence. Closed-circuit television footage was also received and is being examined by the Police in order to clarify the causes of the fight," he said.
It is recalled that around 10.30 on the evening of Wednesday, June 25, a number of minors residing in a facility in the Agios Georgios area of Larnaca met in a parking lot near the facility where they clashed with each other, also using knives.
As a result of the clash, five of the people were injured and transported by ambulance to the Emergency Department of Larnaca General Hospital.
The three minors were provided with First Aid and released, while two were detained for hospitalization, as they suffered serious knife wounds.
The Police proceeded to requests to the Larnaca District Court for the issuance of arrest warrants for seven people, who were arrested.
