The combination of low pressure in the north of the island with high pressure in the central Mediterranean is expected to cause a very strong to strong westerly current in the area, from early Wednesday morning.

Today, after the dispersal of the morning low clouds or even thin fog, the weather will become mainly clear, although locally increased clouds will be observed. From the afternoon, however, mainly in the west, in the south and in the mountains, the weather will become mostly cloudy and isolated light rain is not excluded. The winds will initially blow mainly south to southwest, weak to moderate and locally moderate, 4 Beaufort, to gradually strengthen mainly to southwest to west, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and transiently on the southeast coast to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will initially be a little rough, to become rough later. The temperature will rise to around 25 degrees in the interior, around 22 in the south-east, on the east and on the northern coasts, around 20 on the rest of the coasts and around 14 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, in the western half of the island, the weather will be locally mainly cloudy with isolated light rain possible. In the afternoon and early morning hours, gradual local rains are expected, initially from the west. The winds will blow southwest to west, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and on the coast to strong, 5 Beaufort and transient locally to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough to rough, but on the western and northern coasts it will gradually become rough. The temperature will drop to around 10 degrees in the interior, around 13 on the coast and around 4 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Wednesday, the weather will be mainly cloudy at times and initially local rains are expected, to become isolated soon. Snow or sleet may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos and locally in the higher mountains. On Thursday, locally increased clouds will be observed, while on Friday the weather will be mainly sunny.

The temperature on Wednesday will see a noticeable drop and a further slight drop on Thursday, to fluctuate significantly below the climatological average values. On Friday, the temperature is expected to rise.
