A cold front will affect Cyprus on Friday with rains and storms across Cyprus, winds and a drop in temperature. The rains start on Thursday and gradually subside on Saturday, with strong winds until Sunday, Meteorological Officer Panagiotis Georgiou told CNA. There will be dust in the atmosphere on Thursday and Friday.

Specifically, he stated that on Thursday there will be local rain until late afternoon with the possibility of a storm mainly in the west of the island, with the possibility of isolated rain in the evening.

Continuing, he said that on Friday a front will affect Cyprus, which will bring a lot of rain throughout Cyprus with storms. He added that in the event of a storm, hail with snow or even sleet may fall in the mountains. He also said that on Friday and during the night it looks like there will be rain.

Local rains are expected on Saturday with a slight chance of a storm, mainly in the west, while no rain is expected on Sunday and Monday, but temporarily increased cloudiness.

When asked about the intensity of the winds, he said that on Friday the southerly winds will blow at an intensity of 4-5 Beaufort, which are expected to strengthen on Friday morning to 6 Beaufort and continue throughout the day at this intensity.

He then stated that on Saturday there is a gradual decrease in wind intensity, but it will be 4-5 Beaufort, with the wind intensity subsiding on Sunday.

Regarding temperatures, Mr. Georgiou said that on Thursday the temperature will rise to around 20 degrees Celsius inland and on the coast, around 8 in the mountains. On Friday, due to the cold front, the temperature will drop to 16 degrees Celsius inland, 18 on the coast and 6 degrees in the higher mountains.

According to him, the temperature from Saturday to Monday will gradually increase and by Monday will reach 20 degrees Celsius. From Tuesday, the temperature is expected to begin to drop, perhaps fluctuating slightly below the average temperature for the season, which is 17 to 18 degrees Celsius.

Also, according to the Meteorological Service bulletin issued at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, dust will be observed in the atmosphere on Thursday until Friday evening.
