The Ministry of Health announces that today, January 31 2022:
- 2 deaths from the disease were reported COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 733.
- 204 patients COVID-19 of which 65 are in serious condition. 76,36% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
- 20 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 137,680 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
- 3,396 (positivity rate: 2,47%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases in 256,746.
The current results are detailed.
A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:
The 2 deaths reported with the ultimate cause of death attributed to the disease COVID-19, relate to:
- A man, 86 years old, who ended up on January 31 at the General Hospital of Famagusta.
- A woman, aged 77, who ended up on January 31 in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 733, of which:
458 men (62,5%), and
- 275 women (37,5%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,3 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 204 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 65 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 65 patients in serious condition, 31 are intubated, 4 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 30 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 137,680 diagnoses made, 7,025 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 130,655 by the method of antigen rapid test, 3,396 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:
- 38 cases from 247 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 54 cases of 3,911 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 307 cases from 2,275 samples taken through private initiative.
- 42 cases from 334 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1,853 cases from 68,222 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 1,096 cases from 62,433 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.
- 6 cases from 258 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
