The residents of the house noticed the fire and left before it spread to an open area. The fire was caused by a defective construction of a fireplace chimney.
At 03:43, a call was received for a fire in a wooden structure with a tiled roof (pergola) of a two-story house in Oroklini in the Larnaca district. The Oroklini Fire Station Sergeant Panagiotis Theofilou responded with two fire engines and the fire was brought under control at 04:17. The fire and heat affected part of the pergola, as well as its contents. An adjacent parked vehicle was also affected. The residents of the house noticed the fire in time and exited the house without danger.
