Six-day detention of a 28-year-old for a case of setting fire to a car outside a house

The District Court of Larnaca today issued a six-day detention order against a 28-year-old man, to facilitate the Police's investigations regarding an investigated car arson case that occurred in Aradippou on the morning of Monday, October 3.

As Haris Hatzigiasemi, press representative of the Larnaca Police Department, reported to KYPE, "around 05:18 on the morning of Monday, October 3, a call was received about a fire in a vehicle, which was parked outside a house, in Aradippou. Members of the Police and the Fire Service rushed to the scene and managed to put out the fire."

He added that “from the fire and heat, the vehicle was extensively damaged. The fire damaged the rear of a second car that was parked near the first."

He also stated that "the 28-year-old was arrested by the Police, following suspicions raised against him, after he had threatened the owner of the vehicle, because they had financial differences between them".

Today, Wednesday, October 5, he added, "the young man was taken by the Police as a suspect in a case involving conspiracy to commit a felony, conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, arson, assault causing actual bodily harm, threat of violence, threats, demanding property with threats, theft vehicle and interference in judicial proceedings, offenses committed between September 22 and October 3 in Larnaca and Aradippou".

The case is being investigated by the Aradippou Police Station.
