Extrajudicial fines of € 3.154 and € 150 were issued to two hunters aged 48 and 27, respectively, in the province of Paphos for violations of the Law on Protection and Management of Wild Birds and Prey.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Ioannou, yesterday at 07:45, while members of the Thera Service were on a motorized patrol in the village of Vretsia for poaching, they located a 48-year-old man from a village in Paphos province, hunting without a hunting license. He was then taken to the Panagia police station and one beam and two full cartridges were seized as evidence. An extrajudicial fine of € 48 was issued against the 3.154-year-old, in relation to offenses in violation of the Law on Protection and Management of Wild Birds and Prey, non-possession of a hunting license as well as the transport of cartridges without a hunting license. The Panagia police station is investigating the case.
In a second case, said Mr. Ioannou, on 29.12.21 at 16:00 in the afternoon, while members of the Thera Service were on a motorized patrol in the village of Statos - Agios Fotios to combat poaching, they located a 27-year-old from a village in Paphos province, to transport inside his vehicle, beam mounted outside the case.
He was immediately taken to the Panagia police station, where after the beam was received as a presumption and an extrajudicial fine of € 150 was issued against him. A crime is being investigated against him for violating the Law on Protection and Management of Wild Birds and Prey and transporting an assembled weapon inside a vehicle.
