Fake news about the death of a 12-year-old: Testimony "burned" 45-year-old and 32-year-old

The Cybercrime Prosecution Branch is continuing the investigation to investigate a complaint concerning the publication of false news on social media, an offense for which a 45-year-old and a 32-year-old from Limassol have already admitted.

According to a statement from the Police, members of the Cybercrime Prosecution Branch carried out a search warrant on Friday afternoon, at the home of a 45-year-old man in Limassol, as part of an investigation concerning the publication of false news on social media.

According to the Police, during the search of the house, a mobile phone was located and received for further legal examinations. The 45-year-old, after being questioned, admitted to committing the crime and was charged in writing to be summoned before a court. In the same case, a 32-year-old man from Limassol was interrogated who also admitted to committing the crime, the Police states in its announcement.
