The defendant, Kostas Sotiriou, was found guilty today by the Court of the British Bases of Dhekelia of the premeditated murder of Charalambos Konstantinidis, 47 years old from Paralimni, which was committed in June 2924.
According to an update from the Base Police, "Kostas Sotiriou was found guilty today, Thursday, January 23, of the premeditated murder of Charalambos Konstantinidis. The verdict was announced this morning at the British Base Court in Dhekelia. The decision on his sentence is scheduled to be announced on March 17 and 18."
The Senior Constable of the British Bases, Fanos Christodoulou, stated that "it was a long and intensive investigation and as the Bases police service we are very satisfied that the family of Mr. Konstantinidis saw justice served."
He added that "nothing can make up for the loss of a loved one, but at the very least, the perpetrator of this crime will face a very heavy punishment."
It is recalled that the murder of Charalambos Konstantinidis was committed on the evening of June 25, 2024, in a laboratory located on the Ormidia - Xylofagou road within the British Bases of Dhekelia.
Members of the Bases Police arrived at the scene and located the body of the 47-year-old with a gunshot wound to the head.
The British Bases Police (SBA) arrested Kostas Sotiriou, 45, and on the evening of Wednesday, June 26, he was handed over to the Dhekelia police station.
