The Police are investigating a case of premeditated murder, regarding the death of the 28-year-old.

As can be seen from the findings of the autopsy, it is unknown whether the new femicide took place at the place where the body was found or elsewhere.

The findings of the post-mortem examination showed that the 28-year-old woman's death was the result of a criminal act and that is why the 30-year-old man with whom she was allegedly in a relationship was arrested.

As reported by the Police Spokesperson in Mesimeri and Kati, a fracture of the hyoid bone was detected, which is observed in cases of strangulation and not of a fall. Also, other findings were found that show that the young woman was also sexually abused before she was murdered.

The authorities are now investigating premeditated murder and it is possible that they will make new arrests.

The chronicle of the case 

A case of premeditated murder, with the victim Lesia Bykova, 28 years old, from Ukraine, is being investigated by the Police, after the body of a woman was found in the area of ​​Petra tou Romiou, last Saturday morning, March 11, 2023. To facilitate the investigations, the Police proceeded to arrest a 30-year-old man yesterday.

Around 8am on March 11, a call was received to the Police, from a 30-year-old resident of Paphos, who allegedly reported that while he was in Petra tou Romiou with his girlfriend, she approached the edge of the cliff, as a result of which she lost her balance and fell into the void .

Members of the Police went to the scene which they blocked off, while for the recovery of the woman's body, members of the Fire Service and a helicopter of the Police Air Operations Unit were called. As it was established, the body belongs to Lesia Bykova, 28 years old from Ukraine, a resident of Paphos.

At the scene, examinations were carried out by the Police, as well as an autopsy by a medical examiner.

The 30-year-old, who was present during the tests, was submitted to a drug and breathalyzer test, with positive indications, while various evidence was obtained from the tests carried out in his car.

Yesterday, March 12, the autopsy on the body of the 28-year-old woman was carried out at the mortuary of the Nicosia General Hospital. From the autopsy findings, suspicions were raised that the victim's death was the result of a criminal act.

Therefore, a judicial arrest warrant was issued against the 30-year-old, pursuant to which he was arrested and detained to facilitate investigations.
