Polikarpou murder: In prison for 22 years, a 46-year-old man who left the scene

A 22-year prison sentence against a 46-year-old British man for a homicide case with the victim Ioannis Polykarpou was decided today by the Permanent Criminal Court that met in Paphos, according to the Assistant Police Director, Michalis Nikolaou.

Polykarpou was fatally injured on January 21, 2023 when he was run over by a vehicle driven by a British resident of Paphos, who left the scene. The 46-year-old today pleaded guilty, after earlier his indictment had been amended from premeditated murder to manslaughter.

According to the history of the case, the victim was fatally injured when he was dragged by the 45-year-old's vehicle on his motorcycle, who has remained under trial at the Central Prison since the day of his arrest.

The fatal road collision occurred in the early hours of January 21, 2023, on the Avenue of the Tombs of the Kings and the driver had left the scene. A confrontation between the two men took place in a local entertainment center.
