Winning Cyprus' first European Gold medal in Artistic Gymnastics is really shocking, Cypriot champion Marios Georgiou says in a post on his social networks.
"I feel enormous joy and blessing that I managed to raise Cyprus to the highest step of the European podium. I have received incredible love from all of you who follow me and this is another achievement for me and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I try to respond to all the messages of love and support and to those I fail to respond to, I apologize", writes Marios Georgiou.
The European Champion warmly thanks his coach, Panagiotis Petridis, the team that supports him, "which is in the background but is always there for me, my Federation and the Cyprus Sports Organization which is always by my side", as he says.
"I would like to congratulate my teammates that this year we were fellow travelers in all of this, supporting each other both in the easy and the difficult and we proved how much we can achieve as a Team", he notes.
Finally, Marios Georgiou also thanks his sponsors, who, as he mentions, are always by his side and support him.
