The teenager from Larnaca won the gold medal in Turkey at the IFMA World Muay Thai Youth Championship, which is registered in the Olympics as a pre-Olympic sport.
The 15-year-old Kyriakos, after managing to eliminate his Turkish teammate with 3-0, advanced to the semifinals where he competed with the Iraqi athlete, defeating him also 3-0, in the 67 kg category at the ages of 14-15 years.
In the final, he faced the Russian athlete Gary Fulin, whom he defeated 2-1, managing to become the first Cypriot athlete to achieve such a distinction.
It should be noted that twelve athletes from twelve different countries took part in the event.
