The President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis appointed Mr. Yiannis Antoniou to the position of Deputy Government Representative.
Curriculum vitae
Yiannis Antoniou was born on July 11, 1969. He is a graduate of Lanitei Lyceum B Limassol. After his military service he studied at the Academy of Political Sciences in Sofia. He continued his studies at a journalism school in Nicosia, while simultaneously working as a trainee journalist at the Haravgi newspaper.
He worked for many years as a reporter and content editor at Phileleftheros, until 2008 when he assumed the duties of editor-in-chief at Kathimerini Cyprus newspaper. For a short time he was one of the editors-in-chief of the Mega TV station and head of the IMH journalistic team that created the Reporter information portal. Since 2016, he has been managing the company Alpha Creative, which operates in the field of communication and publishing.
In recent years, he has been a permanent contributor and columnist to Phileleftheros, while he also collaborated with MC Digital Media. From September 2018 until September 28, 2023 he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus News Agency. He was a member of the Journalistic Ethics Committee and the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Editors' Union.
He is married and has a child.
