The health condition of the 16-year-old student who was injured on Wednesday in an accident at his school in Paphos is stable and out of danger, according to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations Michalis Nikolaou.
Mr. Nikolaou reported to KYPE that the accident happened around 12:30 when the student tried to leave the school premises by climbing a fence which consists of a wall and a metal railing at the top.
In his attempt to jump over the railing, said Mr. Nikolaou, the 16-year-old was injured by a sharp piece of metal in the abdomen and the intervention of the Fire Service was needed to cut off the iron and transfer the student to Pafos General Hospital.
There, the 16-year-old was admitted to the operating room where the iron was removed and his condition is described by the treating doctors as stable and out of danger, he added.
The police are investigating the circumstances of his injuries.
