The alarm lasted nine minutes on Monday morning in Akrotiri, where sirens began to sound around 10:20.

At the same time, a message was sent to staff and residents about an ongoing threat and an exhortation to remain indoors and take cover behind or under sturdy and solid furniture, away from windows.

A few minutes later the sirens stopped and with their new message the British Bases informed of the end of the alarm.
