Private Tuition Centers: 106 reported illegal, 604 inspected

On-site inspections of approved private tutoring centers and private educational centers (I.F./IEK), during the period October 2022 - December 2024, were carried out by the Special Committee for the Inspection of Private Tutoring Centers, which is tasked with compliance and implementation of legislation in approved I.F./IEK.

640 inspections were carried out during this period and the Ministry of Education filed 106 complaints against illegal Private Tuition Centres.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (YPAN), the Committee has carried out 640 on-site inspections of approved I.F./IEK, during the period October 2022 - December 2024. The members of the Committee made various recommendations to the owners of the I.F./IEK, for irregularities observed during these inspections.

The Ministry of Education, during the aforementioned specific period of time, filed 106 complaints about illegal Private Tuition Centers.

According to the announcement, a broad meeting was organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture on the subject of handling complaints about illegal I.F./I.E.K.

The Legal Service, the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, the Police, the Social Welfare Services, the Pancyprian Confederation of Associations of Parents and Guardians of Private Schools and the Pancyprian Confederation of Federations of Associations of Parents of Public Secondary Schools were invited to the meeting.

Suggestions were given by the participants for actions that the Ministry of Education and Culture could take to more effectively handle complaints regarding illegal I.F./I.E.K.

According to the Ministry of Education, on-site inspections will continue throughout the entire school year.
