There have been several power outages lately, after the sudden change of weather, resulting in several problems.
One of these problems can be the destruction of electrical appliances in homes. But what happens in such cases, can one claim compensation?
Offsite contacted the EAC spokeswoman Christina Papadopoulou where she clarified that such damages are usually observed when electricity is restored after a power outage.
Because sometimes electricity returns with a higher voltage, added Ms. Papadopoulou.
In such cases, the homeowner must complete a document at the local branch of the EAC, with all the supporting documents from the damages. Also in case of purchase of a new device, the proof of purchase must be presented, as well as a certificate from an electrician that the damage was caused by the EAC.
The EAC will then examine the complaint and decide whether it owes compensation. Finally, Mrs. Papadopoulou clarified that the whole process takes place in a short time.
