A weak high pressure system is affecting the area, while low pressure is expected on Tuesday. Starting Wednesday afternoon, the island will be affected by a cold air mass and a strengthened northerly air current.
Today, the weather will initially be mainly cloudy with medium and high clouds, but in the afternoon it will gradually become mainly clear. Winds will initially be variable weak, 3 Beaufort, to later become mainly southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. The temperature will rise to around 19 degrees inland and on the coast and to 11 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, the weather will be mainly clear, although locally increased low clouds will be observed at intervals. Locally, during the early morning hours, light fog or mist may form, mainly inland and to the east. Winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast weak, 3 Beaufort and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. The temperature will drop to 5 degrees inland, around 8 on the coast and to 3 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost is expected to form locally.
On Tuesday, the weather will be partly cloudy, while in the evening local rains or even a storm are expected, mainly in the west and north. Snow may fall on the higher peaks of Troodos. On Wednesday, the weather will be mainly cloudy and at times local rains and isolated storms are expected. Snow is expected in the higher mountains. On Thursday, the weather will be mainly clear and cold, however locally increased cloudiness may initially give light snowfall in mountainous areas.
The temperature on Tuesday is not expected to change significantly, but by Thursday it will drop significantly, to fluctuate below average climatic values.
