A strange and at the same time unusual incident was narrated to Mesimeri and Kati by the director of the Ambulance Service Directorate, Rania Constantinou.

He initially reported that an ambulance takes about 10-12 minutes to arrive at an incident. He clarified that the time refers to life-threatening incidents and not incidents that require transport to the hospital.

He added that the number for citizens to call an ambulance is 112.

He then referred to a recent incident they had to deal with, stressing that it is sad that citizens are called into situations that the human mind should not even contemplate.

"Two days ago we were called for a cardiac arrest and when the ambulance arrived the deceased was in a coffin. They called us because they thought something might have changed in his condition and they wanted us to help them.

The relatives insisted that we should check him because something might have changed in his condition. We face these and many other extreme situations every day."
