The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for severe storms. The EMMA warning is in effect today from 13:00 PM until 18:00 PM.
Isolated strong storms are expected to affect mountainous areas, inland and possibly the east coast. Hail is possible in a storm. Rainfall intensity is expected to exceed 35 millimeters per hour locally.
The instability affecting Cyprus is expected to favor the occurrence of isolated strong storms, mainly in the mountains, the interior and the eastern coast.

Today, the weather will initially be mainly clear, however, at noon and early in the afternoon, locally increased cloudiness will be observed, which is expected to give local rain and isolated storms, mainly in the mountains and the interior. In a storm, hail is also likely to fall. The winds will initially blow variable weak, 3 Beaufort, to gradually become mainly southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and in the afternoon on the windward coast or even strong in a storm, 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough. The temperature will rise to around 34 degrees in the interior, around 30 on the west and southwestern coasts, around 32 on the rest of the coasts and around 25 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, the weather will be mainly clear but in the western half of the island there will be locally increased cloudiness. The winds will blow mainly westerly to northwesterly, weak and initially locally to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough. The temperature will drop to around 22 degrees inland, around 23 on the coast and to 16 degrees in the higher mountains.
On Wednesday, the weather will be mainly clear, but clouds that will develop in the afternoon and afternoon are expected to produce isolated rain or thunderstorms, in the mountains and inland.
On Thursday and Friday the weather will be mainly clear.
The temperature on Wednesday is not expected to change significantly, but by Friday it will rise significantly, to hover above average climatic values.
