The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for extreme maximum temperature.
The warning is in effect from 11:00 a.m. Monday until 16:00 p.m.

Seasonal low pressure and hot gas mass affect the area.
Today the weather will be mostly sunny, although there will be locally increased clouds in the mountains in the afternoon. Winds will initially blow northwest to northeast and locally southeast to southwest, weak, 3 Beaufort, to later become southwest to northwest, weak to moderate and on the leeward coast moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to a little rough and in the afternoon locally a little rough. The temperature will rise to around 40 degrees in the interior, around 34 on the western coasts, around 37 on the rest of the coasts and around 30 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight the weather will remain mostly clear, but the west coast is likely to see locally increased low cloud later. Winds will be southwest to northwest and gradually locally to northeast, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and progressively light, 3 Beaufort. The sea will become calm to a little rough, but in the west and north it will remain a little rough. Temperatures will drop to around 26 degrees in the interior, southeast, east and west coasts, around 23 on the southwest coast, around 25 on the northern coast and around 20 in the higher highlands.
On Tuesday the weather will be mostly clear with locally increased clouds in the mountains in the afternoon. On Wednesday and Thursday the weather will be mostly clear, however, after noon there will be locally increased cloudiness, which on Wednesday may give isolated rain, mainly in southern mountainous areas.
The temperature is not expected to change significantly until Thursday, to continue to fluctuate above the average climatic values.
