The Minister of Transport, Giannis Karousos, spoke on the SIGMA Front Page show about the gradual resumption of flights from March 1st.
"We have designed and prepared a protocol that on the one hand sends a message of stability to the airlines and on the other hand ensures public health," he said in quotes.
Asked to comment if there is interest from airlines, he said that "a large airline based in Cyprus, strengthens it with a third plane, we see that there are flights to destinations that we did not have direct flights before, we see that there is a new airline for flights between Greece and Cyprus, something that will also help reduce prices ".
There is interest, he stressed, noting that the success of the protocol will depend on many factors and one is the epidemiological picture of Cyprus and other countries.
"A tourist from the United Kingdom is not going to come in March and April," he said.
We will see a gradual improvement, however, he stressed.
For March and April we do not expect tourists, we do not expect more than 1000 to 1500 arrivals per day on average, he said.
Regarding the road in Giolou, the Minister stated that in November the study was prepared and the project was announced with a budget of 700 thousand euros.
"Next week I hope we will sign the project," he added.
