There is interest from the new generation in Sustainable Mobility and it is up to us with our actions, initiatives and projects to promote it, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Yannis Karousos said today.

In statements after an event at Aradippou High School "Tassos Mitsopoulos" as part of the European Mobility Week, the Minister said that "many actions and many initiatives are being organized this week".

He added that in one of the events he decided to participate "together with the Department of Sustainable Mobility of the Ministry of Transport, is today's event, for the simple reason that I would like to be present to hear suggestions from the students, their concerns and also the their criticism on the issues of Sustainable Mobility and especially on the issues of cycling".

He also noted that with "Mayor Aradippou as well as the athletes of the National Cycling Team we had a constructive discussion. The event ended with a good message, that there is interest from the new generation in Sustainable Mobility, there are excellent prospects and it is up to us, with our actions, initiatives and projects, to promote it".

For his part, the Mayor of Aradippou Evangelos Evangelidis thanked the Minister of Transport and his Ministry "because with their help we have a full program of one week of actions, which have given us the messages of what we must do immediately for our citizens. Today, with the Minister, we heard and listened to the problems of young people - why should we listen to them - they have told us enough, which in cooperation with the Ministry we will start to implement".

He also mentioned that "in addition to the programs that the Municipality of Aradippou has with the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SMPs), we want to be able to move around on foot, by bicycle or by any other means, apart from the car."
