As part of the collection and evaluation of data and information, members of YKAN (Klimakio Limassol) spotted yesterday afternoon a car driven by a 37-year-old man moving on a road in the district of Limassol.
At some point on the road, he was seen stopping his car and after getting out of it, he walked to a certain point where there was a nylon dog bag which he placed in the trunk of his vehicle and after entering it he started the vehicle.
The members of YKAN tried to stop the 37-year-old's vehicle and as soon as he noticed them, in his attempt to escape, he crashed his vehicle into an official car and stopped.
Immediately the members of the Police restrained him and arrested him for an unprovoked crime, since he allegedly resisted during the arrest.
In a subsequent investigation, a nylon doggy bag containing 10 packages containing cannabis with a total weight of 5 kilograms and 961 grams was located in the trunk of the vehicle.
A large sum of money and two mobile phones were found in the possession of the 37-year-old, which were taken as evidence.
A search followed at the 37-year-old's home, where a nylon package containing approximately 596 grams of cannabis was found, while a further search carried out in three other vehicles of the arrested person revealed a large amount of jewellery, silverware, an electronic computer, an air pistol, eight fireworks, four devices for launching noxious gases, a large number of watches and other items.
All of the above were received as evidence, while the 37-year-old was taken into custody.
YKAN (Klimakio Limassol) in collaboration with TAE Limassol and Episkopi Police Station are continuing the exams.
