The circumstances of the injury of a 76-year-old person, an inmate of a Nursing Home, are being investigated by the Police following a complaint from his daughter.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, on 7.12.24 Saturday evening after 8, a woman visited the Polis Chrysochous police station, and reported that her father, aged 76, who is an inmate in a nursing home in the area he suffered injuries, while he expressed suspicion of possible abuse at the Nursing Home.
The elderly man was hospitalized at Polis Chrysochous Hospital, Mr. Nikolaou. From the examinations carried out by the Police, he continued, it became clear that the individual had been taken to the Hospital on the morning of December 6th, examined and found by the doctor on duty to have some external injuries and a fractured rhinal bone.
Around noon he was discharged and transferred back to the Nursing Home, but on 7.12.24 he presented some pathological problems and was admitted to Polis Chrysochous Hospital for other reasons. Specifically, said Mr. Nikolaou developed a fever and was diagnosed with a pathological illness.
From further examinations carried out by the Police, continued Mr. Nikolaou, independent testimony has been obtained that on the night of December 6, around 76:02 in the morning, the 00-year-old man had an accident in an attempt to leave the Nursing Home, which caused him some injuries.
The case, however, said Mr. Nikolaou, is being investigated by the Police and it is expected that the elderly man will also be examined by a medical examiner, in order to investigate the claim of his complaining daughter, but also to ascertain whether all the injuries he bears have come from the accident and nothing else happened beyond that.
The case is being investigated.
