The Producer Price Index in construction recorded an annual increase of 2% in the third quarter of 2021, while on the contrary the Production Index in construction decreased by 3,3% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020.

According to data from the Statistical Service, the Producer Price Index in Construction for the third quarter of 2021 amounted to 116,68 points (basis 2015 = 100,00), recording an increase of 2,0% compared to the second quarter of 2021.

Compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, the index increased by 6,4%. By type of project, there was an increase of 7,3% in buildings and 3,1% in civil engineering projects in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020.

The index measures changes in unit prices charged to construction customers. It therefore shows the change in the total cost of the works on the part of the client, including costs such as that of materials, labor, fuel, transport and others, as well as the profit of the contractors, while it can also be considered as an indication of its amount. At the same time, the Production Index in Construction during the third quarter of 2021 amounted to 191,43 points (basis 2015 = 100,00), recording a decrease of 3,3% compared to the third quarter of 2020.

By type of project, there was a decrease of 3,6% in buildings and 1,2% in civil engineering projects in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020.
