The 16-year-old who was arrested on the evening of Easter Sunday for the incident of throwing firecrackers at police officers at the Kissonerga stadium was charged in writing and released on Easter Monday.
According to the Police, the teenager has been charged in writing and will be summoned later, while the Police are searching for other people of his age who appear to be involved in the incident of throwing firecrackers after the conclusion of Easter celebrations in the Kissonerga district of the Akamas Municipality.
Police officers had gone to the area where they spotted approximately 15 young men, who as soon as they noticed the police officers began to move away.
The police stopped one of them, aged 16, and nearby they found a waist bag that he had previously had in his possession.
According to the Police, a search of the bag revealed six firecrackers, resulting in the young man being arrested for the flagrant offense of illegal possession of explosives.
During his arrest, according to the Police, the young man resisted, while a group of young people threw a number of firecrackers at the police officers, without causing any injuries.
The minor was taken to the offices of the Paphos Police Department, where he was questioned in the presence of his parents and a lawyer. It is noted that his arrest took place within the framework of the Police's nationwide campaign to prevent juvenile delinquency during the Easter period.
