Yesterday, the Police proceeded to the arrest of two convicts in the Central Prisons, regarding an investigated drug case.

Speaking to SigmaLive, YCAN deputy commander, Stelios Sergidis, said that during the investigation of a drug case, testimony against the two convicts emerged and arrest warrants were secured against them.

This was followed by a search of the cells of the two prisoners, aged 26 and 32. Two mobile phones and two pairs of headphones were found in the 32-year-old's cell.

The two are expected to be brought before the Nicosia District Court today.

It is noted that two persons, a 39-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, are under arrest for the same case.

The vehicle of the two was stopped on September 20, while it was moving in an area of ​​Nicosia province.

In a subsequent search, a quantity of cannabis weighing 1 kg and approximately 224 grams, a precision scale with traces of white powder believed to be cocaine, as well as a sum of money of 585 euros were found inside the vehicle.

Both the 39-year-old man and the 34-year-old woman were arrested for self-inflicted offences, and then, based on a court warrant, a search was carried out at the 39-year-old's home, during which a quantity of white powder weighing approximately 510 grams, believed to be cocaine, was found, as well as a quantity of hemp, weighing about 350 grams.
