The thermometer will reach forty and over forty at the weekend, which brings the summer to Cyprus earlier.
Speaking on the show "First Information" on RIK, the Director of the Meteorological Department Kleanthis Nikolaidis, confirmed that after Thursday there is a greater rise in temperature, while today it is above normal.
Indicative, according to Mr. Nikolaidis, is that on Tuesday morning, a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius was recorded in Prodromos, while in Nicosia it is expected to exceed 31-32 degrees, while the normal limit is 28-29 degrees.
The increase is due to a system of high pressures affecting the Eastern Mediterranean region and coming from North Africa. Its source is the saccharin desert so it will carry some dust and high temperatures.
By the weekend, it is expected to reach and exceed 40 degrees, which is not unprecedented, as last May the absolute maximum temperature for May was recorded, with 42,1 degrees Celsius abroad.
As Mr. Nikolaidis pointed out, the high temperatures are not an indication that we will have a hot summer, while the hot days will not affect any social activity.
"We wish the coronavirus to be here in Cyprus in its forties", concluded Mr. Nikolaidis.

On Thursday the weather will be mostly clear and relatively warm especially from Thursday onwards. The temperature will rise further to be above the average climatic values.
On Friday the weather will be mostly clear and relatively warm. The temperature will rise further to be above the average climatic values.
