The provision of incentives to nurses and medical staff for emergency staffing of Covid Clinics in public hospitals, as well as referral of patients to private hospitals, was decided by a wide-ranging meeting initiated by the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY).

As mentioned in an announcement, OKYPY informed the bodies and carried out an extensive analysis of the current situation, the needs were recorded, which exist and which may arise.

During the meeting, it was stressed that the responsibility for the operation, management, control and supervision of hospitals in the context of pandemic management is OKYPY.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health, the General Director of the Ministry, the Management Team and officials of OKYPY, the President of the Pancyprian Medical Association and representatives of the health professionals' unions.

Providing incentives to nurses and medical staff

By mutual agreement of OKYPY and PIS, a proposal of OKYPY for providing incentives to doctors for emergency staffing of Covid Clinics in public hospitals was discussed.

At the same time, OKYPY suggested providing incentives for hospital staff, in an effort not to revoke licenses but to ensure high staffing and shift coverage, as there is a shortage of staff due to summer vacations.

Referral of patients to private

As agreed between OKYPY and PASIN during the meeting they had last week, the referral of patients from OKYPY hospitals to private hospitals starts immediately, where necessary. The aim is to decongest the hospitals from the rest of the cases, in order to provide more beds and staff for the care of patients with COVID-19.

Proper guidance of citizens for decongestion of TAEP

Due to the increase in hospital admissions and the need to decongest short-term care, OKYPY urged OAY to assist the personal physicians to respond to citizens' calls and guide them properly so as not to go directly to the TAEP.

As mentioned, OKYPY will continue its close cooperation with the Minister of Health and the General Director of the Ministry, who undertakes the general coordination, for the implementation of the government policy of pandemic management.
