The investigative work has begun to solve the case of the murder of 55-year-old Thanasis Kalogeropoulos, which took place on the morning of Monday 30/10.
According to what the head of the TAE Limassol, Lefteris Kyriakou, said to Sigma and the program Protoselido "what appears from the first examinations is that there was a pre-study. It seems that there was surveillance and they knew that the victim frequented the area. Based on a plan they executed and then drove the vehicle they used and some other evidence to a secluded area where they set it on fire. Of course, this criminal action was pre-planned and studied."
As for whether it was a professional strike, he said that "what appears to have been firearms knowledge, it was used in a crowded area and they hit their target."
In addition, he added that "there are several directions, we try to see every piece of information that comes to us and we investigate it. Some persons have been summoned who were previously reported to have had some differences with the victim."
According to Lefteris Kyriakou, the matter has occupied the police authorities in the past as well, stating that "he had been summoned and interrogated in the past in very serious cases that had been committed in our province".
Finally, he said that "we are monitoring the situation and getting information. We do not have any information that there will be other criminal actions connected to it. We have received closed circuit surveillance which we are processing, some movements have been recorded both at the scene but also have some other information in relation to the escape of the perpetrators. There is a large investigative project which has been established an investigative team which has started these actions since yesterday".
