We condemn the desecration of the monument to the heroes of the resistance located in the area of Agios Nikolaos in Limassol. The brazen hooded men acted under the cover of night, writing slogans on the monument and in the surrounding areas. This is not the first time that anarchist circles have disturbed the symbols of democratic resistance by proving how unhistorical and dangerous their actions are.
We, as the Pancyprian Association of Democratic Resistance, want to make it clear that the struggle and sacrifices for the defense of democracy have not stopped in front of the tracks of fascism and it is funny if some anarchists think they can bully. We continue to this day to fight against fascism, against attempts to justify the coup and to defend the history of the resistance. If some people want to go with the enemies of the people and the democratic history of our country, then they should know that they will find us against them.
We call on the police and the state to immediately investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice as well as to restore the monument. As a link we will send letters to all the bodies responsible for the restoration and further upgrade of the monument since this is not the first time you have been targeted by vandalism.
