CYPRUS: 174 new cases of coronavirus - Patient ends up in Limassol Hospital

The Ministry of Health announces that today, November 6, 2021:

- One person died of the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 576.

- 74 patients COVID-19 of which 23 are in serious condition. 66,24% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

- 1 post-COVID patient who has ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continues to be treated intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

- A total of 46,157 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 174 (positivity rate: 0,38%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 125,814.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

The one person who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, it's about:

- An 83-year-old man who died on November 5 at the Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 576, of which:

368 men (64%), and

- 208 women (36%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,1 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 74 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 23 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 23 patients in serious condition, seven are intubated, one is admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 15 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 46,157 diagnoses made, 3,891 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 42,266 by the method of antigen rapid test, 174 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 6 cases from 87 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 4 cases of 1,802 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 23 cases from 1,761 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 5 cases from 201 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 77 cases from 32,388 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 59 cases from 9,878 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

  • 40 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
