CYPRUS: 3 deaths and 2.546 new cases

223 patients COVID-19 of which 71 are in serious condition. 73,43% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

The Ministry of Health announces that today, January 25 2022:

- 3 deaths from the disease were reported COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 716.

- 223 patients COVID-19 of which 71 are in serious condition. 73,43% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

- 25 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

- A total of 99,308 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 2,546 (positivity rate: 2,56%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases in 241,319.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

The 3 deaths reported with the ultimate cause of death attributed to the disease COVID-19, relate to:

- A woman, 86 years old, who ended up on January 24 at the General Hospital of Famagusta.

- A woman, aged 85, who ended up on January 25 at Paphos General Hospital.

- An 88-year-old man who died on January 25 at the Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 716, of which:

448 men (62,6%), and

- 268 women (37,4%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,1 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 223 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 71 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 71 patients in serious condition, 27 are intubated, 5 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 39 to an intensive care unit.

 C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 99,308 diagnoses made, 6,465 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 92,843 by the method of antigen rapid test, 2,546 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 105 cases from 543 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 70 cases of 2,286 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 341 cases from 3,175 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 19 cases from 324 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1,186 cases from 41,718 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 830 cases from 51,125 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

  •  0 cases from 192 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
