CYPRUS: 89 new cases of coronavirus

63 patients COVID-19 21 of whom are in serious condition

The Ministry of Health announces that today, October 24, 2021:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 568.

- 63 patients COVID-19 of which 21 are in serious condition. 55,56% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

- 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be treated intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

- A total of 38,139 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 89 (positivity rate: 0,23%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 123,357.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

No patient deaths were recorded with COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 remains 568, of which:

361 men (64%), and

- 207 women (36%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,2 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 63 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 21 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 21 patients in serious condition, eight are intubated, two are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 11 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 38,139 diagnoses made, 4,710 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 33,429 by the method of antigen rapid test, 89 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 6 cases from 257 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 6 cases of 3,248 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 20 cases from 849 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 4 cases from 86 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 27 cases from 14,758 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 26 cases from 18,671 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

  • 259 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 11 samples taken as part of a sampling test at the Port.
