Over 550 cases today - The situation in hospitals

The Ministry of Health announces that today, April 6, 2021:

- Two people have died from the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 264.

- 205 patients COVID-19 46 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 49,383 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 559 (positivity rate: 1,13%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 48,837.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

The two people who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, relate to:

- A woman, 74 years old, with an underlying disease, without a history of vaccination, who ended up at the Limassol General Hospital.

- A 62-year-old man with underlying diseases, without a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of the Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 264, of which:

175 men (66%), and

- 89 women (34%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 205 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 46 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 46 patients who are critical, 21 are intubated, seven are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 18 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 49,383 diagnoses made today, 4,892 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 44,491 by antigen rapid test, 559 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 104 cases from 704 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 3 cases of 1,015 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 10 cases from 194 samples taken as part of a re - test carried out on 7ηday after the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
  • 140 cases from 2,510 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 4 cases from 244 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 3 cases from 225 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 15 cases from 935 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 280 cases from 43,556 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method.
