CYPRUS: Two deaths and 383 new cases - All information

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 12, 2021:

- Two people have died from the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 238.

- 195 patients COVID-19 36 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 57,337 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 383 (positivity rate: 0,67%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 38,879.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

The two people who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, relate to:

- A man, aged 70, with underlying diseases, who ended up today at the General Hospital of Famagusta.

- A 69-year-old man with underlying diseases, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 238, of which:

158 men (66%), and

- 80 women (34%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 195 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 36 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 36 patients who are critical, 21 are intubated, two are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 13 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 57,337 laboratory diagnoses performed today, 2,822 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 54,515 by the antigen rapid test, 383 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

• 111 cases from 753 samples obtained through the process of tracking close contact (primary contacts) cases.
• 1 case of 510 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
• 56 cases from 1,315 samples taken through private initiative.
• 13 cases from 212 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
• 11 cases from 813 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
• 191 cases from 53,702 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:

• 32 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.

In detail, the rapid antigen test (rapid test) was performed today as follows:

* In cooperation with the employers' organizations, consumables were provided by the Ministry of Health and on-the-spot checks were carried out on companies that showed interest. It concerns inspections carried out in the period March 6-12.
