The Ministry of Health announces that today, October 17, 2021:
- One person died of the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 562.
- 55 patients COVID-19 of which 21 are in serious condition. 63,8% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
- 9 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be treated intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
- A total of 38,627 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
- 99 (positivity rate: 0,26%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 122,362.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:
The one person who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, it's about:
- A 60-year-old woman who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 562, of which:
356 men (63%), and
- 206 women (37%)
The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,3 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 55 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 21 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 21 patients in serious condition, 10 are intubated in the Intensive Care Unit and 11 in the Intensive Care Unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 38,627 diagnoses made, 5,095 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 33,532 by the method of antigen rapid test, 99 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:
- 9 cases from 65 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 12 cases of 3,750 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 8 cases from 915 samples taken through private initiative.
- 3 cases from 62 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 29 cases from 14,724 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 38 cases from 18,808 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.
In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:
- 303 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
