The Ministry of Health announces that today, April 7, 2021:
- Two people have died from the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 266.
- 210 patients COVID-19 48 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 47,181 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
- 529 (positivity rate: 1,12%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 49,366.
The current results are detailed.
A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:
The two people who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, relate to:
Woman, 83 years old, with underlying diseases, with a history of vaccination (1η dose), which ended up at Larnaca General Hospital.
- A man, 42 years old, with a very serious heart disease, without a history of vaccination, who ended up at the General Hospital of Nicosia.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 266, of which:
176 men (66%), and
- 90 women (34%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 210 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 48 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 48 patients who are critical, 24 are intubated, two are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 22 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 47,181 diagnoses made today, 3,661 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 43,520 by antigen rapid test, 529 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:
- 132 cases from 756 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 2 cases of 515 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 98 cases from 1,909 samples taken through private initiative.
- 10 cases from 242 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 2 cases from 239 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
- 285 cases from 43,520 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method.
