Two cases of burglary and attempted burglary, in a mini market and a betting agency, respectively, are being investigated by the Paphos TAE, for which an arrest warrant has been issued and a 27-year-old man is wanted.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Ioannou, at 08:30 on Sunday morning, a 49-year-old owner of a mini market located in Paphos was reported to the Paphos Police Department that between January 1-2, 2022, the store was broken into. He also said that a laptop with a black cover worth 800 euros, various coins worth 600 euros, a sum of 300 euros in various banknotes, a large quantity of cigarettes worth 3.500 euros and various drinks worth 500 euros were stolen from the store. The total value of the stolen property, according to the complaint, amounts to approximately 5.700 euros, said Mr. Ioannou.

After the complaint, members of TAE Paphos went to the scene and from the on-site examinations they carried out, it was found that the two locks of both the inner and the outer door were broken with a tool, as a result of which the entrance to it was achieved. The store does not have an alarm system installed and there is no insurance coverage for the stolen goods. However, said Mr. Ioannou, a closed surveillance circuit is installed in the store and an examination of the closed circuit revealed that a 27-year-old resident of Paphos is allegedly involved in the case, against whom an arrest warrant has been issued and he is wanted.

Moreover, on December 31, 2021, a 38-year-old employee of a betting agency reported to the Paphos TAE that between December 30-31, unknown individuals tried to break into the back door of the above store. Following the complaint, scientific and other on-site examinations were carried out by members of the Paphos TAE and by a control of the closed monitoring circuit maintained by the agency, the same 27-year-old was allegedly identified as the perpetrator, against whom a new arrest warrant was issued for the second case.

The case against him is being investigated, among others, for the offenses of attempted shoplifting, possession of burglary tools during the night and stabbing.
