A 49-year-old man was arrested by police on Wednesday, who prevented members of the police from checking a hairdresser in Paphos for compliance with measures to reduce the pandemic. A second person, who is the owner of the hair salon, was sued in court for the amount of 500 euros because he did not have a safe pass.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Ioannou, at 16:30 on Wednesday afternoon, members of the Paphos Crime Prevention Unit went for a check-up at a hair salon in Paphos. The father of the 49-year-old owner of the hair salon was there, who allegedly did not allow the members to check and prevented them from performing their duties.

After being informed of the crime he committed and that he is under arrest, he reacted and was subsequently arrested for spontaneous offenses. He was taken to the Paphos Central Police Station, interrogated and charged in writing, with a view to appearing in court at a later stage.

In the meantime, the owner of the hair salon was sued out of court for the amount of 500 euros because he did not have a safe pass, did not wear a mask and there were no written instructions on the premises and there was no signage. Paphos Central Police Station is investigating the case.
