The 34-year-old's complaint is being investigated by the Police following an internet fraud case.

According to the Police, a 34-year-old woman living in Nicosia, complained that she was deceived by a person she met through social networking, who then deceived her for the amount of approximately 31.000 euros.

As she told the Police, she believed the unknown man with whom she was chatting via twitter, as a result of which she transferred more than 31 thousand euros to foreign bank accounts.
The complainant reported to the Police that she was talking to someone who introduced herself to her as a captain named "Petros". The offense was committed in early July when her alleged captain reported that his ship had broken down due to a mechanical failure and asked her for money needed for spare parts.

According to what she told the Police, in order to be trusted, she asked to contact the company that was going to supply the spare parts.
The 34-year-old was finally convinced and through the Housing Financing Organization in Paphos made three transfers to foreign banks with unknown beneficiaries, considering that with this money parts would be bought.

After the last transfer, the complainant tried to contact the so-called captain but as he found out his account has been deactivated.
He then reported the case to the Police.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
