Disgust in public opinion is caused by what was heard in the Limassol District Court by the investigator of the unprecedented case of rape of a young woman suffering from mental retardation, by an 85-year-old man in Limassol.
The suspect allegedly had an affair with the 33-year-old woman during a visit to a nursing home hosted by his friend and the alleged victim. The elderly man allegedly drove the young woman away from the Institution in his car, at least three times during which he had sexual intercourse with her. In two cases he took her to an open space and to his house respectively, while in a third case and during her transfer back to the Institution where she was hosted, it seems that he forced her to have sexual acts.
The 85-year-old was brought before the Limassol District Court, which ordered the detention of the suspect for a period of five days, in a closed procedure. He even made some allegations about the case, which are being investigated by the authorities. The 33-year-old was examined by a medical examiner, who did not find any evidence of rape.
Regarding the conditions of hospitality of the young woman in this institution, it seems that it was not a home restriction but she had the opportunity to leave the area.
The Deputy Director of Social Welfare Services Maria Kyratzi stated on the show Alpha Information that the young woman is being inspected by officials, in the context of a request for assistance to her due to her mental condition.
He also announced that the YKE is conducting an investigation regarding the rape complaint submitted to the Police last week, as well as an internal investigation into the hostess status of the young woman in the specific house.
