In Protoselidos, the theologian Theodoros Kyriakou was hosted on Wednesday morning, on the occasion of the issue that has returned to the news and concerns homosexual conversion treatments.
"Unfortunately, the Church considers homosexuality a taboo. He didn't go to great lengths to clarify some things. Surveys in the US by conservative evangelical churches have concluded that the majority of homosexuals, over 70%, cannot change. So the Church must change its pastoral approach to homosexuals because the matter is simple.
Pope Francis said that I don't care if a person is gay, I care about a person's relationship with God. That's why all the things that have started to happen in the last few years towards the area of the Metropolitan of Constantia... towards the Metropolis where I think about treatments... we have to make it clear that they are pseudo-therapies, what does treatment mean?", he said.
He went on to say that there is another issue they should be aware of… “the issue of spiritual guidance. There are too many homosexuals who want to have a living relationship with the church. This part they have to pay attention to because if there is the threat of criminalization from above all the time, I think that some spiritual people when they go to homosexuals might not want this relationship because tomorrow they may be accused of allegedly trying to heal.. don't deprive me a few words from these people their spiritual quests".
"I was impressed to see the Metropolitan of Constantia claiming that he has changed one.. say the one who has changed was among those who could change. For the rest, does the Church raise its hands?", asked the theologian," said the theologian.
