A large quantity of tobacco products was found and confiscated in a car driven by a 63-year-old man from Nicosia, on the Larnaca-Nicosia highway near the Rizoelia area.

According to the Police, last night a long-term monitoring operation was carried out by members of the Larnaca Crime Prevention Unit (OPE) in collaboration with members of the Portal Special Tasks.

Specifically, after an evaluation of information, a rental car driven by a 6.30-year-old Greek Cypriot, aged 63, from a village in the province of Nicosia, was located around XNUMX this morning, in the area of ​​Rizoelia on the Larnaca-Nicosia highway.

The car was stopped by the Police and after an investigation, 48 boxes of 50g were found, ie 12 kilos of tobacco, 10 boxes of tobacco products and 7 boxes of tobacco for electronic cigarettes.

The 63-year-old was arrested for spontaneous offenses and was taken into custody.

The case is being investigated by OPE in cooperation with the Customs Authorities.
