The Police proceeded to arrest a 53-year-old man in Limassol, as part of an investigation into a case involving the offenses of conspiracy to commit a felony, conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of burglary tools, as well as negligent and reckless acts.
Specifically, members of the Limassol Metropolitan Police Department, as part of motorized patrols to prevent burglaries and thefts, approached a suspicious vehicle last night, which was parked in an open area in Limassol and in which three people were riding.
The Police members approached the car and indicated their identity for the purposes of checking the persons in question.
The driver of the car, after starting, drove in reverse, dragging and injuring a member of the Police, before speeding away and leaving the area.
The police officers followed the car, the driver of which was driving recklessly and dangerously, committing various traffic offenses, resulting in a collision with a car in front at some point on the road.
In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the police fired warning shots into the air.
The three occupants abandoned the vehicle, however, police officers managed to arrest the 53-year-old driver, who was arrested for flagrante delicto and taken into custody.
In a subsequent search of the vehicle, various burglary tools, gloves and surgical masks were found.
The injured member of the Police was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where he received first aid and was discharged.
The exams are continuing by the TAE and the Limassol Traffic Police.
